Work Release Information
Who is eligible?
You must be sentenced and court-ordered by a judge to be eligible for Work Release.
How do I obtain a report date?
- You must go to the WRF (140 4th St. SE) and obtain a report date from the WRF Staff. If you are not given a set date by the courts you will usually have approximately 30 days to report.
What can/do I bring on my report date?
- A list of items you are allowed to bring will be provided when you set up your report date.
- Pillow, mattress, pillowcase, sheets, blanket, and towels are provided.
No foods, beverages, vape devices, glass containers, tools, any items containing SD 40 alcohol, bleach, magazines, palm or hand-held computers, or games can be brought into the facility. Marijuana, THC products, and drug paraphernalia are not allowed. Cell phones, pagers, tobacco products, and flammable devices (matches, lighters) must be stored in the lobby locker.
How much will it cost?
- You will be required to pay your work release fee one week in advance, through the following Monday. The cost is $20 per day while you are serving your jail time in the WRF. The Booking Fee is $25 and an ID Card is $5. Anyone with Work Release privileges must pay fees prior to working. If you are not employed you may apply to work on a Sentenced to Service crew.
- You will be required to purchase a padlock, drinking cup, spork, and shower shoes for $25. These items must be purchased from the WRF, you will not be allowed to bring in these items.
- Canteen cards will be used to purchase all vending items. A $5 deposit will be required at time of booking. This $5 will be refunded upon your release.
How many hours can I work?
- You are allowed a maximum of 40 hours of work per week.
- Your work must be within 50 miles of the work release facility
- Your employer will be contacted by WRF staff to verify work schedules.
- You can not work more than six days in a row.
Other information you need to know regarding your stay at the WRF:
- You will be responsible for laundering your own clothing and the bedding that is provided by the WRF. Coin-operated machines are available and take quarters only.
- You will be subject to random urinalysis testing as well as a preliminary breath test.
- You must have any past fees owed to the Adult Detention Center paid in full in order to participate in WRF programs.
