Burn Ban in Olmsted County Effective Immediately
OLMSTED COUNTY, Minn. - Olmsted County Sheriff Kevin Torgerson has issued a burn ban for all of Olmsted County due to elevated fire conditions throughout the region. The burn ban takes effect immediately and will remain in effect until further notice.
The decision to issue a burn ban was made with guidance from City of Rochester Fire Chief Eric Kerska, several other Olmsted County fire chiefs, and the National Weather Service. Hazards making up the elevated fire conditions include breezy winds, hot temperatures, very low humidity and moderate to extreme drought conditions.
What is included in the burn ban?
- No open burning.
- No recreational fires.
- No campfires.
- No burning of any kind, even if a previous permit has been issued.
The Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office will announce when the ban is canceled.
