Suspicious Circumstances Complaint in Byron
On March 31, 2021, at approximately 6:12 p.m., the Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office became aware of a suspicious circumstances complaint that involved a young child walking home from school. The incident occurred near Byron Middle School located at 601 4th St. NW in the City of Byron around 3:00 p.m. on March 31, 2021.
The child involved is a 12-year old female that resides in Byron. The child was walking on a wooded trail to the east of the middle school when she came across a male that had his back to her. The male asked the child if she wanted to walk with him. The child told the male that her mother was waiting for her in a vehicle parked nearby and the male responded with “Oh, Okay”. The child then left the area and wisely reported what happened to her mother.
The male was described as a white male, in his 20’s, had black hair with black facial stubble, was wearing blue jeans with a gray hooded sweatshirt, and the hood was up.
Deputies checked the area where the incident occurred and did not locate anyone nor was evidence located. The Sheriff’s Office is currently taking additional measures to help ensure the safety of the kids that walk in the area as well as conducting a follow-up investigation.
The Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office is very proud of how the child involved reacted and informed her mother. She did well.
