Olmsted County parks director appointed to Greater Minnesota Regional Parks and Trails Commission
This week, Governor Tim Walz and Lieutenant Governor Peggy Flanagan appointed Karlin Ziegler, the director of Olmsted County Parks, to represent District 6 of the Greater Minnesota Regional Parks and Trails Commission (GMRPTC).
GMRPTC conducts system planning and designates regionally significant parks and trails in Greater Minnesota. The commission also recommends grant funding to counties and cities outside the seven-county metropolitan area for regional parks and trails through the Legacy Parks and Trails Fund.
“This will be an exciting adventure,” Ziegler said. “I hope to use the experience to apply more background information in future planning for Olmsted County’s parks and trails.”
Ziegler will serve a four-year term on the GMRPTC for district 6. The district encompasses Dodge, Fillmore, Freeborn, Goodhue, Houston, Mower, Olmsted, Rice, Steele, Wabasha, and Winona Counties.
