Olmsted County recognizes Child Support Awareness Month
This month, Olmsted County reaffirms its commitment to promoting the well-being of children and child support services during Child Support Awareness Month.
"Our Child Support team is committed to children's well-being and providing families with the assistance they need," said Olmsted County Family Support and Assistance (FSA) Program Manager George Mietzner. "We are proud to be part of Child Support Awareness Month and joining the effort to spread awareness of these vital services."
Olmsted County’s Child Support Services team works collaboratively with parents and local partners to provide services such as:
- Locating absent parents.
- Establishing parentage.
- Establishing and enforcing court orders.
- Child support.
- Medical support.
- Childcare support.
- Modifying support court orders.
- Working with other states to enforce child support when a parent lives outside of Minnesota.
- Collecting and processing payments for support.
With this collaborative effort, Olmsted County can provide children with what they need most, reliable support from their guardians.
In 2021 Olmsted County's child support services worked with 4,819 families and distributed $17,617,133 in child support payments.
"We are here to help ensure children receive the support they need and deserve," said FSA Program Manager Brianna Harmening.
Olmsted County's Child Support Services have employees that can assist with obtaining applications, answering questions, and guiding families through the process. Offices are open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday at 2117 Campus Drive SE, Rochester, MN 55904, and the team can be reached at 507-328-6500.
"This commitment to children's well-being is something that should be celebrated every day, but especially during Child Support Awareness Month," said Mietzner.
