Minnesota voting updates

As of June 1, 2023, several election laws went into effect in Minnesota. Residents with felony convictions, who are not currently incarcerated, can vote, and 16- and 17-year-old Minnesota residents can pre-register to vote.

Voting after a felony conviction
Minnesota residents can vote in an election(link is external) if they are not currently incarcerated for a felony sentence, are on probation or parole, or if their felony conviction did not include prison time.

Questions about eligibility to vote following a criminal conviction can be directed to the Minnesota Secretary of State’s Office(link is external) at 877-600-VOTE.
