Olmsted County encourages veterans to explore PACT Act benefits

Olmsted County Veteran Services encourages local veterans to learn more about the Promise to Address Comprehensive Toxics (PACT) Act, a critical piece of legislation aimed at expanding healthcare and benefits for veterans exposed to toxic substances during their military service.

The PACT Act, signed into law on August 10, 2022, ensures veterans who were exposed to toxic chemicals, burn pits, Agent Orange, and other harmful substances receive the care and compensation they deserve. If you deployed post-9/11 to any combat area, you are presumed to have been exposed to burn pits and other hazardous conditions, making you likely eligible for VA healthcare services.

“We want every veteran in Olmsted County to know about the PACT Act and how it could impact them,” said Olmsted County Veteran Services Manager Tiffany Canfield. “This law is designed to address the health issues many veterans have faced due to their service. It’s essential our veterans take advantage of these new benefits.”

Olmsted County Veteran Services offers free assistance to veterans and their families in understanding and applying for these benefits. Veterans are encouraged to schedule an appointment online to ensure they are not missing out on the support they are entitled to.
