Sheriff's Office Arrests Four Impaired Drivers Over Long Weekend
Last week, the Olmsted County Sheriff's Office joined law enforcement agencies across the state in extra DWI patrols as a part of the Minnesota Toward Zero Deaths Holiday campaign. From Wednesday (Nov. 24) through the weekend, Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested four individuals for driving impaired.
A 28-year-old male was driving 79 in a 60 and crossing over lane lines on Highway 52. He was stopped and his preliminary breath test showed a reading of .13.
A 31-year-old male ran a red light on 12th street and Marion Road SE in front of a deputy. He was stopped and his preliminary breath test showed a reading of .19.
A 52-year-old male hit another car head-on at a slow speed (thankfully no injuries). Another car was stopped at a stop sign and the impaired driver ran into the victim’s car at a slow speed. The victim driver spoke to the other driver and his passenger, who were both highly intoxicated. His preliminary breath test showed a reading of .21.
A 54-year-old male was the subject of a driving complaint (thankfully). A person called 911 after witnessing an intoxicated male leaving a bar/restaurant, getting into his vehicle to drive, and witnessed him driving at a high rate of speed while weaving in and out of traffic. The responding deputy got behind the suspect vehicle before it increased its speed to close to 100 miles per hour. Before the suspect pulled over, he cut off another vehicle that had to hit breaks to avoid a crash. When the responding deputy had the man step out of his vehicle, he was slurring heavily, staggering and stumbling. His preliminary breath test showed a reading of .19.
Please remember to always plan ahead and find a safe, sober ride home.
