TZD Tuesday - Crash Responder Safety Week

Law enforcement, fire and rescue, emergency medical services, public works, transportation, towing and other responders put their lives at risk when clearing crashes, stalled vehicles or roadway debris. Crash Responder Safety Week (CRSW), which takes place November 14 – 18, aims to educate drivers about the Move Over law and the simple steps everyone can take to keep responders and the public safe when an incident occurs on our roadways.

CRSW not only promotes awareness of the Ted Foss Move Over Law, but it’s also a time to encourage traffic incident responders to participate in Traffic Incident Management (TIM) Responder Training. Drivers can make a big difference through their vigilance, but training is also a critical part of the effort to save lives. Efficient response requires seamless collaboration and coordination among responders to meet the needs of those injured, ensure the safety of responders and road users, quickly clear the incident and prevent secondary crashes. The FREE 4-hour training course could save your life and the lives of others.

Remember that every time law enforcement officers and other first responders stop to help motorists, investigate a crash or conduct a traffic stop, they are putting their lives at risk. Please help them protect us by slowing down and moving over when you see flashing lights. Together, we can drive Minnesota toward zero deaths.
